Think different
I only added this one because this short video from Apple is really quite inspiring. As a netpreneur, you have to think differently - just like the iPod-producing people did at Apple. Think outside the square. Go where nobody else has gone before. Push the boundaries.
Add an 'email a friend' link on your content pages
In this day and age of content sharing and social media, it's a good idea to have an 'email a friend' link on your content pages, allowing your site visitors to easily forward your articles and advice to their mates.
Put in for a COMET grant
COMET, or the Commercialising Emerging Technologies grant, is a competitive, merit based program that supports early-growth stage and spin off companies to successfully commercialise their innovations.
Send out a regular email newsletter
One of the best ways that you can spread the word about your business is to send out a regular email newsletter containing compelling information for your target audience.
Use Google Analytics to monitor traffic
Google Analytics is a comprehensive traffic analysis tool from those super-smart people at Google. Google Analytics offers a host of compelling features and benefits for everyone from senior executives and advertising and marketing professionals to site owners and content developers. And it's completely free.
Add video to your site
Video is the way of the future on the web. In fact, we're likely to be watching television via the internet in the not-too-distant future, as broadband speeds increase.
Inform other sites about your new blog content using Ping-o-Matic
Ping-O-Matic is a service that informs search engines and blog directories that your blog has been updated. Using Ping-o-Matic, you can directly configure your blog software to 'ping' (inform) a whole host of search engines automatically when you add an article to your blog.
Check out how many of your pages are indexed by Google
It is important to know which pages the search engines have indexed on your site. Not only does it allow you to tweak your TITLE tags, page copy and metadata, but it also gives you an indication of how your search engine optimisation efforts are going over time and how good your competitors are at SEO too.
Check out how many websites link to yours
To aid your inbound link building efforts, you should regularly check how many external websites link to your website. It's also a good way to keep on top of what other people are saying about your website.
Include keywords in hyperlink anchor text
There is evidence to suggest that your site will receive greater credence by the search engines, for a particular keyword combination, if you use those keywords in hyperlink anchor text. This applies both internally to your own site, as well as externally in inbound hyperlinks to your website.
Develop effective 'landing pages' for your paid advertising
Attracting customers to your website through Google AdWords is one thing, but it is an entirely different thing to persuade them to transact with your business once they get there.
Advertise your business using Google Adwords
Google Adwords is one of the most well-known pay per click advertising programs on the web. No matter what your budget, you can display your ads on Google and its vast advertising network and you only pay if people click on your ads.
Utilise the DESCRIPTION meta tag
The meta tags, normally located at the top of your HTML page, contain information about your website that is invisible to the user. The DESCRIPTION tag provides a description of what that page is about - this tag remains an important indexing variable for the search engines.
Use keywords in your page file names
Using keywords in your HTML page file names is a known search engine optimisation technique. Pages with a file name relating to the topic of that page (eg. cheap-hotels-sydney.html) often appear higher in the search results than those that don't.
Ensure your TITLE tags are descriptive and contain keywords
The TITLE tag is located at the top of your HTML page and it tells the user (and the search engines) what your page is all about. When you open your browser, the TITLE tag is the text that appears at the very top left hand side of the screen. On the Netpreneur's Action List:Lastest additions to the Netpreneur Directory:
