Some search engines take the readability of your web pages into account when ranking websites, although this is a a relatively minor factor when compared to keyword combinations and inbound linking.

Most search engines and online tools use the Flesch Reading Ease test.  The Flesch Reading Ease test is a United States governmental standard to determine how easy a text is to read. It measures the approximate level of education necessary to understand the web page content. Higher scores indicate the text that is easier to read, and lower numbers mark harder-to-read texts.

You can use a tool such as IBusiness Promoter, and a host of other online tools, to determine the Flesch Reading Ease test score and general readability of your pages.

More importantly, you should manually check that your pages are written professionally, are free from grammatical and spelling errors, and are readable for human visitors (ask a friend to check).
